Welcoming & Introductions of Visitors

  • Bruce reviewed highlights and key points of Common Meeting Night (Feb. 2018)
  • All representatives gave brief run-down of the activities & goals & issues of their Commissions/Committees. With Q&A following each representatives’ statements.
  • Areas of Interest to follow up on –
  • Need for larger number of ‘core’ members
  • Need for ‘core’ members to be less ‘doers’ and more ‘planners’
  • Need to increase volunteer base in all areas
  • How to accomplish this needed increase of volunteers is the question
  • Immediate areas to improve overall relationships –
  • Better communications between Pastoral Council and all Commissions/Committees (use website to read PC Minutes)
  • Better communications between all Commissions/Committees (contact liaisons as needed; contact other Chairs when trying to coordinate events)
  • Take and send Minutes from all meetings to PC Secretary [Note: The PC cannot assist you if we do not know about your events, plans and needs. Secretary info @ page bottom]

Visitors Thanked for their time and input into tonight’s meeting.

Judy Freimark, Secretary, Pastoral Council – [email protected]; (414) 762-7376

The above section of our Minutes will be sent to all Commission/Committee Chairs, outside of regular parish mailings, once they have been approved.

Discussion of Visitor segment of tonight’s meeting:

  • ‘Atmosphere’ of the Commissions/Committees needs attention to encourage growth and participation within.
  • Improvement of ‘social aspect’ of these volunteer groups seems to be the ‘key’
  • Idea to ponder: How can we (PC) help in the ‘socialization’ of our parishioners, to help make them active participants in the future of St. James?
  • This concept/question to be considered by all PC Members and will be discussed in a future meeting of the PC.

Feasibility Study:

  • Presentation – Overall reaction to the three after-Mass presentations on the Renovation plans were very positive. Concerns raised regarding colors, etc., were addressed as “not set in stone”, and that “This is what these meetings ere designed to do – get parishioner-feedback on existing plans”.
  • Review - The James Co. will compile the results of the three presentations as well as the independent interviews conducted within the parishioner-body of St. James. This ‘feasibility study’, once compiled, will be submitted to the Archdiocese for approval.  At which time, the Campaign Fund Raising can begin, and dates set for the start of the actual renovation.

Amazing Parish Report/Discussion:

  • Chuck, Ellen and Dan gave overview of the program – it’s considered intent and idea-4, 2018
  • Having a leadership team that helps focus on areas that may need immediate attention.
  • Realization that our team of leaders is already accomplishing a lot of what they (Amaz. Par. Team) hoped that the parishes in attendance would work at achieving.
  • “Team Development” was one idea that had/has a lot of merit and can be very useful going forward.
