Ministries of Care

Anointing of the Sick:

This sacrament is primarily intended for anyone who suffers from serious or chronic physical or emotional illness, or who struggle with the infirmities of age. One need not be in danger of death nor does the Church anoint one who has already died.

Individual Anointing

If you are scheduled to go to the hospital for surgery or extended care, contact the parish office BEFORE you go, to arrange for the celebration of the Sacrament by one of our priests.

Communal Anointing

The parish celebrates the Sacrament of the Sick for all who would like to receive it annually, usually in the fall.  This takes place at the weekend masses.  Please watch the bulleting and this website for specific dates.

In Case Of Death

Although the Church does not anoint one who has already died, priests may be invited to minister to the family and lead the prayers at the time of death as provided by the Church.  Please call the office to arrange this service.

Card Making:

Hand-made birthday and special holiday cards and mail them to homebound parishioners who are age 80 and over.

Group gathers twice per year to make and address cards.

Care Checks:

When the parish receives word of a parishioner who is ill or in need, a phone call and follow up calls are made to offer support and prayers.  (During non-Covid times a follow up visit may also take place) The pastoral associate makes these calls regularly.  Such calls may also be requested through the parish office.

Ministers of Care:

Assist the Pastoral Staff in visiting the homebound, those in facilities or the hospital.

Some Ministers participate in communion services at nursing homes.

This may be done as a Minister who brings Eucharist to them or simply pays a social visit, keeping them connected with our parish community.

The Pastoral Care Ministry is looking for teams of people who are willing to bring communion and/or visit our parishioners who are home bound or in facilities.  Luke 10:1 “After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.”
