St. James is dedicated to helping people in many ways. There are times when a person is unable to go out to church or other places. These changing events can be challenging. At St. James we are dedicated to walk with people of any age that may be struggling. Romans 15:1-2 states, “We who are strong out to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” Listening to people’s stories, acknowledging their struggles and being with a person is important to us.
Equally important are times when loved ones die or people experience loss. One of the stations of the cross is Jesus being laid in the tomb. During this time those who walked with him start the grieving process. They remember the past and are unsure of the future. There are many tomb experiences in our lives. Again, stories are important. It is the goal of Pastoral care to be present and listen to those stories. A goal is to support and bring hope through faith.
