32 OT - November 8, 2020

Since this article must be in to the printer before the election results are in, or even before we hear the latest numbers of how the COVID-19 pandemic is progressing or regressing, some of you may be very happy about the results of both of these or maybe very disappointed about the future.  We all struggle at times with doubts about our country, our world, or about our faith in general.  The readings toward the end of the liturgical year focus on the end times and the last judgment.  Today we are reminded that we know not the day or the hour.  Therefore we should always  be prepared.

Paul reassured the Thessalonian community.  Do not grieve like the other people who have no hope.  We are blessed with hope in the promise of life everlasting.  But not only hope about the fact that Jesus was raised from the dead and therefore death is not the final chapter, but all the doubts we have about the future can be transformed through our faith in Jesus and what he has done for us.  All our disappointments, our uncertainties, worries, and fears give way to our faith that the Lord will be with us always.  God is with us now and he will be with us in the future whatever that future holds.  “Jesus, I believe that you are with me both now and forever. Amen.”

Love, Peace, Joy

Fr. Bob
