33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - November 16, 2025

Dear Parishioners,

Today’s readings warn us that the day is coming when we will be tested severely. How do we prepare for the ultimate test? We trust the Holy Spirit will guide us. The Holy Spirit draws us to the Mass each week where we are nourished and strengthened in the Eucharist. The Holy Spirit nudges us to obey our conscience. The Holy Spirit fills us with the virtues we need to do God’s will. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will watch over us and guide us through all our trials and tribulations.

The disciples, as usual, ask Jesus the wrong question. You can hardly blame them, for they are worried about the future and want to make sure they are prepared. But Jesus warns them that they will easily be deceived by signs they may take as the end of the world. The lesson Jesus offers is that the best way to be ready is to stay ready. If you are ready for the end all the time, you can spend your time working to spread the Gospel and put it into practice as Jesus commanded his disciples to do, rather than minding other people’s business and sponging off of others, as Paul warned the Thessalonians. The day of the Lord is near. Let us put our faith into practice every day so if today is the day, we are ready. Injustices, tragedies and hardships of this world are not the end. The end is eternal bliss in God’s presence.

Love, Peace, Joy,

Fr. Bob
