Christ the King - November 24, 2024

On the final Sunday of the Church year we celebrate Jesus Christ’s unique role as ruler over the entire universe. He did not become King by conquering other nations, nor by popular acclaim. No, he became King by willingly suffering and dying for our sins and leading us to eternal glory with God. He gave us a glimpse of the Kingdom during his earthly life, but we know that he continues to reveal himself in the poor, the weak, and the marginalized, in the Church as we gather in his name, and in the Eucharist we receive and consume each weekend.

Pilate had good reason to worry about the so-called “King of the Jews.” As the Roman prefect in charge of the provinces of Judea, he would logically be threatened by the native population’s king. Imagine his relief when Jesus tells him that he has no attendants to fight, for his kingdom “does not belong to this world.” To Pilate, a king had power, status, and wealth. The man before him had none of these things. But he did not recognize the truth, the truth that indeed Jesus had all of these things, just in a different way. In God’s kingdom, Jesus was given power over death, the status of kingship, and the wealth of the countless souls who have joined him in eternal life.

Not only did Jesus redefine king for us, but he also redefined Kingdom. Just as the king is the servant of all, the kingdom is one in which service for others is paramount. The kingdom is not only beyond this world, but is also present in this world when Jesus is present with us. Jesus embodied the kingdom during his earthly life and before he left he told his disciples that he would always be present in those who are in most need. When we serve those in need, spreading Christ’s peace, hope, and love in the world, we are participating in the work of the Kingdom.

Love, Peace, Joy,

Fr. Bob

Thursday is Thanksgiving Day. How appropriate it is to gather around the Lord’s table with our parish family before we gather around the dining room table with extended families and friends. After all, the Greek word Eucharistia means “thanksgiving.” We will celebrate Mass on Wednesday, November 27, at 6:30 PM. Come and join us.

In the present day uncertain society, protecting your assets is paramount to ensure peace of mind. A primary the most effective ways to secure your belongings is by putting resources in a high-quality safe. From crucial documents to precious jewelry, a safe provides a safe storage solution for items of considerable value.

One of an essential consideration to consider when acquiring a safe is its level of security. High-security safes are equipped with state-of-the-art locking mechanisms, such as digital fingerprints or keyless entry systems, to deter unauthorized access. Additionally, the build of the safe plays a vital role in its security features. Look for safes made from durable materials like metal or metal, which offer security against manipulation and break-ins.

Regular maintenance of your safe is also vital to ensure its continued effectiveness. This includes periodic inspections to check for signs of wear and tear, as well as greasing the locking mechanism to keep it functioning smoothly. It's also crucial to keep the interior of the safe clean and free from dust and debris, as this can affect its performance over time.

Furthermore, think about the placement of your safe within your home or business. Opt for a location that is unnoticeable yet easily accessible for authorized users. Avoid placing the safe in areas prone to water damage or severe climate, as this can harm its contents.

In conclusion, owning a safe is not just about having a secure place to store your valuables; it's about taking proactive steps to protect what matters most to you. By putting resources in a premium safe and properly maintaining it, you can ensure the safety and security of your belongings for years to come.
