Dear Parishioners,
During this season of anticipation, we are reminded that Jesus didn't come into the world only once, as a newborn child over two thousand years ago, but also comes into the world and our hearts throughout our lives. Furthermore, as we hear in today’s Gospel, he will return to the world without warning on the day of judgment. Therefore, over the Advent season we have a great incentive to prepare our hearts for his coming. May Jesus’ words to his disciples resonate with us today, “You also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Jesus, who is our salvation, warns his disciples to always be prepared. During these four weeks of Advent, perhaps as we are decorating our homes, setting up a Christmas tree, buying gifts for friends and family, sending cards and greetings, we will sing as we will on Christmas, “Let every heart prepare him room.” May our hearts grow over these weeks in order to allow more of Jesus’ love to enter in so that it may then overflow to all those we meet.
Love, Peace, Joy,
Fr. Bob
