Remembering our faithful departed

During the month of November, we remember our faithful departed.  Over the last two days we have celebrated All Saints Day and All Souls Day, honoring those whose lives have been holy and recalling all those we love whom we have lost in death.  For God, however, no one is truly lost, no one is dead.  All are alive in Christ Jesus.  Let us mourn for our loss, but let us find comfort in knowing that our God of life is stronger than death.

Today let us put ourselves in the shoes of Zacchaeus; so eager to see Jesus that he climbed a tree to see over the crowds, being short in stature.  Jesus is with us today in our neighbor, in our midst, as we gather together in his name and in the bread and wine we offer as it is blessed and broken.  We don’t need to climb a tree, yet we may find him difficult to see.  Let us pray for the eyes of Zacchaeus, eager to see Jesus in every person, place, and event in our lives.

 Love, Peace, Joy

 Fr. Bob

P.S.  Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend.  I hope you set your clock back one hour.  We wouldn't want to miss a single moment that God has given us.
